BHOPAL : The city police failed to nab the miscreants who allegedly attacked a police constable with sword in a bid to arrest them on Janmashtami celebrations in Aradhana Nagar under Kamla Nagar police station on Monday.
The injured constable was undergoing treatment at Chirayu Hospital. DGP Shreenivas Verma, SP, ASP, CSP and TI rushed the hospital to meet the ailing 35-year-old constable. Home Minister Babulal Gaur also visited constable Rishikesh Tyagi and assured him of getting a cash reward of Rs 20,000.
TI Kamla Nagar police station Kunwar Singh Mukati said that the search has been intensified and all the possible places hideouts have been raided but the miscreants were not found.
He added that miscreants were habitual criminals. Others related to the miscreants have been detained and questioned and soon the main accused would be nabbed. On Monday night during Janmashtami celebrations at Kaali temple in Aradhana Nagar a fight between Sandeep and Umesh Bamnere, Deepak Lamba, Dinesh and Golu broke out after which the four attacked Sandeep and when Kamla Nagar police were informed a PCR van rushed to the spot and when constable Rishikesh tried to intervene he was attacked with sharp edged weapon in his stomach and back. The police have registered a case against miscreants on charges of attempt to murder and riot and launched a manhunt to nab them.
Besides the cash amount of Rs 20,000 to Rishikesh Tyagi announced by state home minister Babulal Gaur, DIG Shreenivas Verma has declared a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on the arrest of accused miscreants.
