BHOPAL: The spokesman of the state Congress JP Dhanopia on Monday sent a letter to the chief election commissioner regarding the by-polls scheduled to be held at Shahdol parliamentary constituency.
Dhanopia said process of the by-polls has started and the code of conduct has been enforced. The state government has appointed IAS officer Alok Singh as the collector of Anuppur district. Singh has inclination towards the Bharatiya Janata Party and he has been made the district collector in the wake of the by-polls, said Dhanopia, and he would also perform duties of the district returning officer.
Dhanopia said the state government after getting whiff of the parliamentary by-polls transferred Ajay Sharma two days before despite he was appointed as Anuppur collector only three months ago. Sharma was shunted because the BJP found that he would not act according to the state government’s insinuation during the election. This is why Sharma was transferred elsewhere and Singh was made the collector of the district.
