BHOPAL: The Congress leaders mostly slammed the incident of police assaulting state Congress chief Arun Yadav during a demonstration to protest the demonetisation and lay siege to the Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday.

While addressing the public meeting, AICC general secretary Mukul Vasnik alleged that the governor of the RBI, is working as a stooge of the Prime Minister office. Urjit Patel has brought his post into disrepute and he should resign on the issue of demonetisation.

AICC secretary Rakesh Kaliya added that the Congress was always in favour of demonetisation, but protests the way it has been implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The day to day change in decisions created problems for farmers, labourers and other middle class people. He alleged that morality of democracy has been going down in the state. Someone had instructed police to specifically assault PCC chief Yadav during the demonstration.

Yadav alleged that the RBI is autonomous and free of control working in favour of nation, but for the first time others took the decision of demonetisation, instead of the RBI.

MLA Jeetu Patwari alleged that almost 90 per cent of around 360 people arrested with demonetised and new currencies all over the nation are office-bearers of the BJP. He also lashed out at the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) minister Sanjay Pathak and taking a dig at him said, “One day Pathak will say he had recommended to make Modi as PM of India”. He also alleged that the Pathak’s family amassed crores by taking help of the Congress, but when he saw that BJP would give him better chances to earn more, he shifted his loyalty. He also alleged that if the police have beaten him, he would have given a good lesson to the attackers.

The Congressmen marching towards the RBI office provoked police to take strict action, but the cops remained clam, the protestors also tried to enter the RBI office, but again the police behaved calmly and pushed them out.

Cops foil plot to create arson

When the protesters gathered in front of the RBI office, the police on duty found two tyre and one 100 millimetre bottle filled with petrol. The policemen throw both the things from the area into the bushes.

It is presumed that unidentified person may have planned to conduct arson situation to create havoc in the demonstration.

‘CM exchanged loads of banned notes’

PCC chief Arun Yadav alleged that the chief minister and his wife exchanged the demonetised currency loaded in 7-8 mini trucks at their warehouse in Vidisha, just before the demonetisation was declared. He added that the bank officials were called and pressure was made upon them to exchange the currency.
