Debate on Guv’s address in Assembly .

BHOPAL : The Congress on Thursday cornered the state government on the weak financial health of the state. The Congress alleged that the NDA government is not supporting the state, in financial matters and the state government is tight-lipped on the NDA’s apathy. The assembly members were commenting on the governor’s address, in the House and debated on their statements.

The congress MLAs, expressed their disagreement on the BJP MLAs claims. One after another, the Congress MLA raised the problems and programme failure in their respective constituencies.

Congress MLA Mahendra Singh Kalukhera raised the issue of the state’s financial straits, citing the statement of the former finance minister Raghavji that when the Congress handed down baton to the BJP, the state was burdened with the debt of Rs 20,000 crore while in current time of the BJP’s third consecutive term, the state is indebted with Rs 1.50 crore.

He asked that the government is claming the ‘Sound Financial Health’ then why the state is having the debt of this huge amount. Nobody replied to Kalukheda’s statement.

He also claimed that the union government is not providing adequate funds to the state, he asked that when the UPA government was in power, the state government staged dharna and protest on the issue. But now when the NDA government has curtailed the funds meant for the state, what will be the stand of the government.

Congress MLA Mukesh Nayak sarcastically praised CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, saying that under his regime, gems are growing in agriculture fields instead of wheat and gram and gushing milk has replaced water in rivers while all cows and buffalos have started giving milk round-the-clock.

When MLA Jaivardhan Singh supported the demands of the daily wages workers for their regularisation, the BJP MLA blamed his father, former CM Digvijay Singh and claimed that he had terminated the workers through single order.  Supporting the governor’s address, all the BJP MLAs praised chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s efforts to improve the agriculture scenario of the state and also getting the Krishi Karman Award for the fourth consecutive year.
