Cong leader sentenced for life in murder case

Dhar : A court has sentenced former Congress leader of opposition in municipal council Vinod Chauhan to life imprisonment in a murder case. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 10 thousand on the convict. The court’s verdict has sent a shockwave among the Congressmen as Chauhan hold a considerable clout among youth in the city particularly in Naugaon area from where Chauhan is a Corporator.

According to information, on the night of 4 November, 2013, Sunil was shot dead in village Padlya in a dispute over land. During the course of investigation, the police found that the murder was committed by Vinod Chauhan and Kundan Ajmera. The licence of the gun used in the crime was with Chauhan.

After a hearing, Additional Session Judge Vishnu Kumar Soni announced his verdict, presenting a life sentence for the accused. Besides, a three year imprisonment was also announced under Arms Act. Both the convicts were sent to Dhar jail after the verdict. Public prosecutor Sureshchandra Jalodiya was the prosecuting lawyer in the case.
