Notices to be issued to Cong, Ajay Singh
BHOPAL: The BJP, on Monday filed a complaint with Election Commission of India against the Congress for violation of model of conduct by issuing a charge- sheet against the government and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, saying that baseless and confusing charges were made in it.
The ECI has taken cognisance of the complaint and will issue notice to the Congress and chairman of charge- sheet drafting committee Ajay Singh, said official sources.
Accompanied by party state president Narendra Singh Tomar, vice president Anil Dave, former chief minister Kailash Joshi and national vice president Prabhat Jha, Chauhan reached the office of the chief electoral officer in the night to submit the complaint.
He said the Congress tried to gain votes in the elections by levelling false and baseless charges against the government and him. The BJP submitted over 15- page- long complaint to CEO Jaideep Govind, requesting to file the case against the Congress.
Later, Chauhan told media persons that the Congress gave the figure of Rs 1.46 lakh crore scams in its chargesheet without backing its claim with facts.
“ There are no facts behind the charges and also no evidence,” Chauhan asserted. He said, “ The Congress leaders are frustrated because they apprehend defeat in the polls. They have no option but to level charges to tarnish my and my government’s image.” Referring the charge of go down construction, Chauhan said now they termed as scam the godown constructed by borrowing loan. The issues were raised by the Congress in charge- sheet which were rejected for inquiry by Lokayukta and courts as well.
