BHOPAL : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, addressing in a meeting of state- level Bankers Committee here on Thursday, said that Bankers are known for their high integrity but complaints of corruption in banks have started trickling in.

Chauhan said the number of applications under Rural Housing Mission is often more than the target and in such a situation; approval should be given on merit basis.

Middlemen should not be allowed any role.

He said Banking is considered a corruption- free sector and it the bankers should ensure that there are no complaints of corruption from the customers.

Chauhan urged the Bankers to give positive and enthusiastic support in making Madhya Pradesh a leading state in the country.

He asked them to give loans to big, small and cottage industries without any discrimination.

Chauhan said Madhya Pradesh would be made manufacturing hub of ‘ Make in MP’ to realise the ‘ Make in India’ dream of Prime Minister.

Madhya Pradesh would become driving force of Indian economy. Under Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Mission, 10 lakh houses would be built for poor in next five years.

Chief Minister said Global Investors Summit had created a positive environment for investment in the state. The state government has created a Venture Capital Fund which would encourage innovative entrepreneurial ideas. He said Bankers should have trust in youths of the state and they must be provided loans for higher education and industries.

Chief Secretary Antony De Sa said as per Annual Credit Plan of the state, a target to distribute Rs 71,000 crore as loan has been set.

Agriculture sector would get Rs 53,000 crore, Rs 10,000 crore would go to Minor and Small Industries while loan of Rs 7600 crore would be given for other sectors as loan. He said the process of loan approval in various beneficiary oriented schemes should be completed by December 31.

Central Bank of India, executive director, Rajkumar Goyal said Madhya Pradesh has made a new image in the field of development. He said the Bank is ready to contribute for the all round development of the state.

He said all attempts would be made to fulfill the targets of annual action plan.
