DHAR : District commissioner Sanjay Dubey and additional director general of police Vipin Maheshwari on Monday visited the Bhojshala ahead of Vasant Panchami and took the stock of security arrangements there.
Other senior officers –DIG (rural) Abhay Singh, district collector Shriman Shukla, SP Rajesh Hingankar addl SP, ADM, city magistrate Bihari Singh, SDM Jitendra Singh, CSP Vikram Singh were also accompanied them.
It may be noted that the festival of Vasant Panchami has been always a challenging task for the administration.
Dhar town, which is home to the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Masjid that both Hindus and Muslims claim as their own, is gearing up for a tense Vasant Panchmi. With the festival falling on a Friday (February 12), the administration is on its toes with both communities insisting on exercising their rights to pray.
Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which protects the monument, allows Hindus to visit the shrine on Tuesdays and on the occasion of Vasant Panchmi and Muslims on Fridays. The administration has been doing all round efforts to maintain the peace in the town.
After supervising the disputed arena, the commissioner and ADGP also chaired a meeting of top police and administrative officers and directed them to take necessary steps to maintain the law and order in the town.
District collector Shukla said that talks are in progress with the religious leaders of both the communities and Vasant Panchami would be celebrated in peaceful atmosphere. However, ADGP did not divulge how much police force would be deployed around the monument on the occasion of Vasant Panchami. “We are making a routine check up and supervising the situation”, said ADGP Maheshwari.
After communal clashes in Manawar and Bagh tehsils, the district administration is taking the event of Vasant Panchami quite seriously to avoid any untoward incident.
