It is the fourth time since the BJP coming to power in the state when Chauhan is staging Dharna against the Centre for ‘ step- motherly treatment’ to the State. Chauhan said he has put four demands before the

Central government. First demand is that the Centre should send an inspection team to take stock of damage caused by hailstorm and give a special package of Rs 5000 cr for the farmers. The second demand is that the Union government should release of the rest of the sanctioned amount for damage to Soyabean crops.

A Central team had recommended an aid of Rs 370 crore but only 34 crore were given. Third demand is about support price of gram. The government has declared support price of gram to be Rs 3100 per quintal but gram is being sold at Rs 2300 to Rs 2600, which is far less than its support price. His fourth demand is that APIDA should protest against patent of Basmati rice of the state, which is leading to loss to state’s farmers.
