Bhopal: To keep its flock together at the first state assembly session beginning today, the Chief Minister Kamal Nath called Congress legislature party meeting at the CM House on Sunday evening. The first challenge before the Congress-led government is to run the Assembly session successfully without facing any discomfiture.
The meeting aimed at preparing the Congress MLAs to face the BJP which is sitting in opposition well equipped to corner the government in the assembly. The five-day first session of the 15th assembly will commence from Monday. Top party leaders including ex-CM Digvijaya Singh, member of parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia, MP (RS) Vivek Tankha, MP Kantilal Bhuria, ex-MP Suresh Pachori and others marked their presence in the meeting.
The assembly session is expected to generate a lot of heat as BJP legislators, are all set to bombard questions on their Congress counterparts who are occupying the treasury bench after fifteen long years. Anticipating the fire from the opposition bench, the Congress legislators were informed well in advance about how who counter the opposition.
The MLAs were also educated about the assembly procedures. They were asked to remain present in the session till the last hour. Congress, government had to garner support of one SP, two BSP and four independent MLAs to form the government as it failed to attain the simple majority by two votes.
The BJP has 109 MLAs. Resentment is brewing among the MLAs, including that of Congress, SP, BSP and even independents, who failed to get ministerial berth in Nath’s 28- member cabinet. Nath had in inducted one independent MLA Pradeep Jaiswal in his ministerial team.
