Five sluice gates of Bhadbhada Dam opened
BHOPAL : Heavy rainfall lashed the state capital on the first day of August on Monday. It rained almost for the whole day without a break.
The city received 42 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours which led to opening of five sluice gates of Bhadbhada Dam. Collector Nishant Warwade declared holiday for all the government and private school in the district on Tuesday. As per the met department sources, the highest monthly total rainfall of 903.9 mms in August was recorded in the year 2006 with the heaviest fall in 24 hours of 291.6 mms on August 14.
The weatherman has predicted intermittent rain with likelihood of a few heavy spells during the next 24 hours with mainly cloudy sky. The low pressure area lies over north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. The system is likely to become well marked low pressure area during next 48 hours. The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level, now passes through Anupgarh, Narnaul Agra, Daltonganj, Midnapore, centre of low pressure area and thence south-eastwards to north east Bay of Bengal.
Most places over Hosangabad, Indore, Ujjain, and Rewa divisions, and Chhindawara, Narsingpur, Seoini, Umaria, Panna, Sagar, Raisen, Sheore, Bhopal, Damoh, Seopurkalan, Shivpuri, districts will experience rainfall during the next 24 hours in the state. Heavy rainfall to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places in Hosangabad, Harda, Raisen, Chhindwara, Khandwa and Narsinghpur, district. The met department has also issued alert for Sheore, Hosangabad and Khandwa districts.
