BHOPAL : The store of CI Mahindra showroom, Jinsi, tuned into ashes after a fire broke out on Saturday morning. Mainly, oil, grease and other lubricants were dumped in the storeroom. Smoke billowed from storeroom and the staff immediately informed fire brigade as well as police. Policemen too rushed to spot.
Fifteen fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire in oil and lubricants store. One of employees, Shahid sustained injuries while dousing the fire from sheds. He was rushed to the hospital. The fire did not spread to the showroom and all the brand new cars were taken out for safety.
After the shutter was opened smoke spread all over the ground causing difficulty to control flames. Top sheets were cut and wall was demolished to have access to the site for easy way to put off the fire.
The lubricants on fire proved to be difficult to douse and it took a long time.
The police department immediately diverted traffic. Initially, fire tenders faced problems to reach the site due to the traffic but later they were given passage.
Fire Officer Sajid Khan said, “Fire brigade timely took an initiative and prevented fire from spreading toward the brand new cars. We told the staff to shift the new cars to safer side. Then we pressed the fire fighter to douse the fire which flared up due to engine oil and lubricants.”
SHO (Jahangirabad) Preetam Singh said, “Nearly 15 fire fighters doused the fire. Prima facie, short circuit seems to be the reason behind the fire. Fire did not spread in other showrooms which are just adjacent.”
