BHOPAL : As a result of events after India’s surgical strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and China’s proximity with India’s belligerent neighbour, being protested vociferously across the country, people in the state capital are not purchasing Chinese crackers on this Diwali. Consequently, crackers market did not pick up this time. This was the condition even on the eve of Diwali. As per the cracker wholesale market at Halalpur, the market is plagued with bearish trend this time.
Halalpur is the wholesale market centre of crackers in the state capital. Besides, there are many temporary markets for crackers which are set on collector’s permission. The makeshift shops of crackers have been set up at Bittan Market, BHEL, Lily Talkies and TT Nagar Dussehra Maidan.
However, many organisations have demanded ban on Chinese crackers which has definitely left its impact on their sale. Earlier, children had craze for Chinese crackers. But this time, people are not purchasing them.
Taj Phataka centre’s Mohammed Shaukat said, “This time, the market has not picked up so far. It was the last day ahead of Diwali. It was good last year. But even on the eve of Diwali, people are not coming to purchase crackers this time.”,
As far as Chinese crackers are concerned, we do no sell them. However, last year, there was a craze among children for the Chinese crackers. But this time, even parents are discouraging the children to not go for Chinese cracker, he added.
Similarly, Raj Kamal of Mahalaxmi Crackers said, “This time, market did not have much business so far as it had zoomed last time. We were hopeful as it was the last day of business. As far as Chinese crackers are concerned, we are not selling them this time. Many organisations also appealed people not to purchase Chinese crackers so even people are not showing interest.”
