BHOPAL : The City of Lakes shivered on Friday with the mercury plummeting by three degrees Celsius. Biting cold hit normal life.
Weatherman attributed the sharp drop in temperature to northerly winds, which are sweeping across the entire state. Temperature is likely to plummet further on Saturday. Humidity has reduced and chilly wind from northern belt caused the biting cold in Bhopal and northern region of the state, weatherman added.
People huddled around bonfires to get relief from the icy wind.
The civic body has already made the arrangement of bonfire at various public places like Hospital, railway station, bus stand and Ren Basera.
Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 22.3°C which was 3°C below normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 7.9°C which was too 3°C below normal. On Thursday, night temperature (minimum temperature) was 10.6°C. So there was almost three degree Celsius fall in night temperature.
