HOSHANGABAD: A central team from Delhi visited the district and inspected cultivation of summer season moong crop in the area on Thursday. The team was comprised of agriculture commissioner JS Sandhu of ministry of agriculture, government of India, additional commissioner of food security mission, ministry of agriculture, DP Mallik and director pulses, GoI, Dr Tiwari.

Joint director, farmer welfare and agriculture development, Narmadapuram division PK Vishwakarma, deputy director BL Pathak of agriculture department, BR Lokhande and other field staff officials and employees were also present on the occasion.

The central team inspected moong crop at Baghwada, Ratwada of Seoni Malwa block and interacted with the farmers of the area. The team reviewed summer moong seed production programme and reviewing it emphasized on increasing of production. They commended the farmers for sowing summer crop of moong.

Sources said that the farmers of Hoshangabad and Harda districts of Narmadapuram division have been producing summer season’s moong crop for last three years. The farmers are getting a yield of 12 to 15 quintal of the grain per hectare under summer Moong seed production programme.  The central team members expressed their satisfaction after the review.
