BHOPAL : A team of the CBI, on Saturday, raided the house of CL Yadav, a BSNL officer, who was posted as general manager in Bhopal two years back. The raids were conducted in connection with an alleged scam in the implementation of a scheme under Digital India Programme for providing Internet connectivity in rural areas of the state.
Yadav’s residence at Jalandhar, where he is currently posted, was also raided. The CBI had started the probe after a raid on a Burhanpur-based company producing plastic ducts for fibre optic cables in March this year. The company called Texmo Pipes and Products Limited is owned by Sanjay Agarwal. The documents seized in the raid had revealed that a bribe of Rs 60 lakh was paid to Yadav by the company, which was given the contract for supplying plastic ducts for housing fibre optic cables.
The raids at Yadav’s home in the Trilanga area of Bhopal began early in the morning and continued till the afternoon. His wife and two children were present at the house. CBI sources said that many incriminating documents were seized in the raids.
