Bypoll: BJP youth leader Vivek Sahu against Nath

Former BJP MLA Nathan Shah will take on Nakul Nath in Chhindwara. The BJP announced names of three candidates on Saturday. In the by-election to Chhindwara Assembly constituency, the saffron party fielded Vivek Sahu against Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Till now, the BJP has named candidates for 21 LS seats but candidates for Bhopal and Indore seats are not yet decided by the party.

The former MLA from Junnardev and tribal leader Nathan Shah will be going to challenge Nakul Nath. Shah had contested the election in 2013 and won. Twotime mayor Vivek Shejwalkar is the candidate for Gwalior Lok Sabha seat while the Congress party has not yet decided its candidate for this prestigious seat. Member of Parliament Anoop Mishra was lobbying hard to get ticket from Gwalior but the party has certain reservation.

Solanki BJP candidate from Dewas

From Dewas, the BJP has declared name of Mahendra Solanki while Congress gave ticket to Parhlad Tipaniya. Indore resident Mahendra Solanki is a retired judge and belongs to Balai community, a dominant community in the constituency.

Rookie Vs VeteRan

For the by-elections of Chhindwara Vidhan Sabha seat, Vivek Sahu will contest election against Chief Minister Kamal Nath. The BJP did not get any prominent face to take on the CM in this constituency. Sources said that no senior BJP leader was ready to contest Nath.

Congress fields Ramniwas Rawat against Tomar

Out of four constituencies of the Gwalior and Chambal region, the Congress has declared candidate for Morena seat only. Former MLA Ramniwas Rawat will contest against Narendra Singh Tomar. But the party has not named candidates for Gwalior, Bhind and Guna.

Gwalior is the Scindia pocket borough but for the past 20 years the seat has been representing by saffron party candidates. This time, name of Priyadarshani Raje Scindia, wife of Jyotiraditya Scindia, is doing round for Gwalior seat. On the other hand, Narendra Singh Tomar had indicated that he might leave Gwalior seat and contest from Bhopal or other seat.

Kamal Nath, son to file papers on April 9

Chief Minister Kamal Nath and his son Nakul will file their nominations together on April 9 for the Assembly bypoll and Lok Sabha elections, respectively in Chhindwara. The CM has represented Chhindwara nine times. The father-son duo would lead a procession in an open vehicle from Shyam Talkies area on April 9 to file their nominations, Deepak Saxena, former Chhindwara MLA and a close confidante of Kamal Nath, told PTI over phone. Nath (73), who is also MP Congress president, is contesting the Chhindwara bypoll as he needs to get elected to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly within six months of being sworn in to continue as state CM.
