BHOPAL : The results of upcoming bye-polls in the state would show the impact of the Vyapam scam on the minds of the people of the state. The results of the by-polls, due in three assembly constituencies, would tell how far the scam has dented the image of the ruling BJP in the State.
The candidates of the BJP and the Congress, after filing their nominations on Saturday, are campaigning hard for their victories.
BJP has fielded Pranay Pandey from Bahoriband seat and his Congress rival is Saurabh Singh Sisodia. BJP has given ticket to Sanjay Pathak from Vijayraghogarh and he is going to fight against Congress’ Brijendra Mishra. Similarly, Gopal Parmar of BJP has Rajkumar Gore of Congress as his rival on Agar seat.
Congress has been raising the issue of Vyapam scam vociferously for the past two months. Congress created ruckus during the Assembly session on Vyapam scam. Congress is also alleging irregularities n examinations conducted by MPPSC and online examinations.
Congress leaders hope that Vyapam scam would help them in getting support of youths in the state. Congress’s campaign in three assembly seats is focussed on Vyapam scam. The results of by-polls would reveal whether the youths have switched their loyalties. Congress is also raising the issue of corruption and demanding CBI probe into Vyapam scam.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders maintain that election results would not be in favour of Congress this time too. The presence of people in chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s public meeting does not show any impact of Vyapam scam on three seats.
The by-polls have become significant as BJP has gained power in the state for the third time and the party forming its government at the Centre. BJP is deputing its senior ministers and leaders for campaigning to ensure its victory in by-polls.
Political analysts maintain that the BJP would humble Congress in the by-polls. In the light of this fact, Vyapam scam would not have any impact on election results. These analysts feel that people’s inclination during by-polls is generally towards the ruling party and in the present scenario, there is nothing in the state which could make people go with the Congress.
