BHOPAL :  The Berasia police nabbed a bookie on Sunday evening on the charge of betting on a T-20 cricket match being played between India and Australia and recovered betting slips, 3 mobile handsets and a LED television set from his possession. Acting on a tip-off, the cops raided a house in Berasia area and recovered Rs 1,000, 3 mobile handsets and receipts of betting slips.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Prakash Gupta. He was found involved in placing bets on the ongoing cricket match between India and Australia.

Several contacts have been recovered from the house which could help in unearthing the nexus behind the betting. Police have registered a case under the Gambling Act and started further investigating mobile phones’ details for more information regarding the people involved in placing and accepting bets from the accused.
