BHOPAL : Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration had to put off anti-encroachment drive for two days due to non-availability of police force engaged on Republic Day celebrations.
Encroachment was to remove from MP Nagar which is one of major commercial pockets of the city.
For the last one week, BMC has launched the anti-encroachment drive in the city with an intension to make it clean and hygienic. Earlier, BMC removed encroachment from New Market which is also a commercial pocket in the city. Later, BMC had targeted MP Nagar but for it, BMC needs more police force to handle and tackle the protests.
BMC had to face ire from encroachers at road leading to drive-in-platform (platform no-6).
BMC still did not remove encroachment from road leading to the platform no-1 which is in Narela Vidhan Sabha constituency.
BMC anti-encroachment cell in-charge officer Ramakant Shukla said, “As we did not get the required police forces due to the Republic Day celebrations, we have put off the drive for the next two days ie January 24 and January 25. On Sunday, we had targeted MP Nagar but due to non-availability of police force, BMC had to put off its drive.”
Shukla said, “We need more police force for the areas like MP Nagar which is a commercial pocket of the state capital.
And as we were not provided police force, we had no other option but to put the drive on hold for the next couple of days. After the Republic Day, we will resume the anti-encroachment drive in the city again.”
