BHOPAL : District administration with Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) continued to remove the illegal constructions from Bairagarh and Lalghati on Tuesday.
Four pucca shops were demolished. Illegal sheds and constructions were removed from 40 shops. The drive will continue till January 24. Two JCB machines and 12 dumpers were pressed to remove the encroachments.
The drive covered Halalpur Bus Stand, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Vijay Nagar and Lalghati. Police force with a CSP and four TI and others personnel were deployed to deal with any untoward incident.
Anti-Encroachment officer Ramakant Shukla said, “Illegal constructions and fencings were removed from government land. Three shops which were constructed behind public urinal were demolished. One lady which had a patta but she had encroached acres of land with fencing. We removed all the sheds and fencing and freed the government land from her possession.”
Reacting to the anti-encroachment drive, MLA Rameshwar Sharma said, “There are many mafiosi active in Bhopal – Tele mafia, land mafia and slum mafia and these mafiosi should be dealt with iron hand and BMC is doing the right thing.
Individual ‘Thela-walas'(vendors) will be properly rehabilitated at hawker corner but mafia will be not be spared.
Show-cause notices to four BMC officers
Three zonal officers and an assistant engineer (water supply department) of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) have been served show-cause notices on ground of dereliction of duty on Tuesday.
BMC commissioner Tejaswi Naik issued the show-cause notices to zone-04 officer Arif Mohammed Khan, zone-10 zonal officer Anil Sharma and zone-15 zonal officer Pradeep Jadia.
Similarly, assistant engineer of zone-4 Rakesh Dwivedi has also been served show-cause notice on the ground of dereliction of duty. Zone-4 zonal officer
and assistant engineer have been served show-cause notices after they could not table report of contaminated water in the zone.
