BHOPAL : A daily wages employee of BMC committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house at Nariyalkheda under Gautam Nagar police station late on Friday night because of alleged harassment he was meted out at the hand of a senior officer. Following the information, police reached the spot and sent his body for the post-mortem examination.
Police said the deceased Hemant Manjhi, 32, resident of Ganesh Nagar, a locality of Nariyalkheda, was an employed in the anti-encroachment squad of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Late on Friday night Manjhi returned home after watching the burning of Ravana effigy on Dusseshra and went to sleep in his room where he hanged self.
The cops have not recovered any suicide note from the spot which could throw light on the reason behind Manjhi’s taking extreme step while during further investigation by police it came to the light that he was frequently harassed by his a senior officer, of the anti-encroachment squad in BMC as Hemant failed to complete the task of illegal recovery of money from encroachers.
Subsequently, the police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPc and started further investigation into the case while the body of deceased has been sent for the post-mortem.
