BHOPAL: By-polls have become a regular feature ever since BJP came to power in the state. In the past 11 years, the state has witnessed by-polls in 20 Assembly constituencies. As far as victory is concerned, BJP won on 14 seats, Congress on 5 while one seat was won by Samajwadi party. In 2004, Ashok Singh of Congress won Balaghat seat while Dashrath Singh of BJP won Nohta seat. In three by-polls that took place in 2006, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan won from Budhni seat, Kapoorchand Dhuvara won Bada-Malhara seat while Pandhana seat was won by Devendra Verma. In the year 2007, Kishore Samritey of Samajwadi Party won Lanjhi seat, Virendra Raghuvanshi of Congress won Shivpuri seat, Tulsi Silawat of Congress won from Samver while Shashiprabha Singh of BJP won from Udaipura seat. In 2009, Ranvir Jatav of Congress won Gohad seat whereas Bhaiyaram Patel of BJP won from Tendukheda seat. The BJP won all three bye-polls in 2011. Dashrath Lodhi won from Jabera, Mukam Singh from Kukshi and Rajendra Verma won Sonkutch seat. In 2012, Rajkumar Mev of BJP won Maheshwar seat. In 2014, Kalyan Singh of BJP won Vidisha by-polls, Sanjay Pathak from Vijayraghavgarh, Gopal Parmar from Agar while Saurabh Singh of Congress won Bahoribandh seat.
