BJP candidate’s son fires on Congress MLA’s nephew, complaint filed

In first instance of pre-poll violence, Congess MLA ‘s nephew was fired upon in Lahar assembly of Bhind. According to reports Congress MLA Govind Singh’s nephew Anirudh Pratap Singh, general secretary of State Youth Congress, had gone to Rurai village for campaigning along with his supporters. He reached the village in three vehicles, when all of a sudden BJP candidate Rasal Singh’s son Brijendra appeared on the scene alongwith his followers and opened fire.

Around ten rounds were fired. However, no one was hurt. Anirudh immediately informed Govind Singh, who advised him to head back home. Later talking to Free Press, Govind Singh said, “They had to abandon a vehicle on the spot. Two other vehicles too were badly damaged.” Terming it as a preplanned attack, he said that it was a miracle that any loss of life was averted. Congress raised the issue in Bhopal as well and filed a complaint with the Election Commission and police authorities. Lahar constituency falls into one of the sensitive constituencies marked by the election commission.
