BHOPAL : The exercise to appoint new State BJP President has begun. An important meeting was conducted at the house of Union Minister Thawarchand Gehlot in Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, National Organisational General Secretary Ramlal, State in-charge Vinay Sahastrabudhey, National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, National Vice President Prabhat Jha, State President Nandkumar Singh Chauhan and Organisation General Secretary Arvind Menon.
According to sources, a discussion on elections for the post of BJP State President to be held in January took place in the meeting. Vijayvargiya advocated for continuing with Chauhan as State BJP President. Vijayvargiya being given the reins of the party in the state were also discussed in the meeting. Other political issues of the state were also discussed in the meeting including cabinet expansion and political appointments in Boards and Corporations. The meeting was focused on developing consensus on the name of State BJP President so that Ramlal and Sahastrabudhey can discuss on this issue with Party President Amit Shah. The elections for State BJP President are to be held in the beginning of January.
There are many leaders in BJP who are annoyed with Chauhan’s way of working and his statements. The new State BJP President will continue till Assembly elections of 2018 in the state. That is why brainstorming is being done. According to sources, the names of Ministers namely Bhupendra Singh, Maya Singh and Rajendra Shukla are also in the fray for the post of State BJP President.
