BHOPAL: Friday witnessed an act of greatness where a family of a brain dead patient donated all the organs of the deceased member. A 59-year-old Ashok Patil, met with an accident on Wednesday. His son Dr Anand Patil expressed his wish to donate organs of his father after losing him in the accident. He contacted Organ Donation Society, which contacted collector Nishant Warwade. In a meeting organised at JP Hospital, Dr Skand Trivedi of Bansal Hospital, Dr Subodh Varshney of Siddhanta Super Specialty Hospital and Dr Ajay Goyanka of Chirayu Hospital were present. The liver was decided to be given for transplant to Bansal Hospital and kidneys to Chirayu and Siddhanta. The brain dead patient was then sent to Bansal Hospital late on Thursday night. On Friday afternoon, the operation was conducted where doctors from Yashoda Hospital, Hyderabad, and all the three major hospitals were present.
The liver was transplanted at around 4 pm at Bansal Hospital. Kidneys were transplanted at 5 pm in Siddhanta and at 7 pm in Chirayu Hospital. Saving three lives together, Ashok Patil set an example for everyone. His son said it was his father’s wish to be of use to others even after he died and he expressed to donate his organs very often.
