Bhopal: In a unique initiative, a young media professional from Bhopal, is providing a platform to the urban and rural youth to use their writing skills to spread positivity in society, being torn asunder by a variety of retrograde forces. The Feature Times’, the first Hindi feature website in India, is the brainchild of a 30-year-old Amit Kumar Sen.
Launched on March 25, 2018, the website also provides an opportunity to those who want to bridge the chasm created between man and man because of religious intolerance. The websites has six segments named ‘Jeene Ki Rah,’ ‘Uddan,’ ‘Aadhyatam,’ ‘Social Halchal’ ‘Yatra’ and ‘Career’.
Founder and CEO of the website Sen who hails from Chanderi, MP, told Free Press, “Nowadays, everyone’s life has become very hectic and full of negativity. So, we want to a provided such contents which bring people from negativity to positivity and mental peace. Also, our motto is to promote healthy media.
“Besides, we also want to promote feature writers so that they can create a positive atmosphere by their writings. Not only we give the chance to write but also teach how to write feature, all free of cost. We also provide online internship for one, three and six months.” he added.
Sen, who is associated with media like print, electronic and Web for 10 years further said, “It was very challenging task for me. I had to struggle a lot for first nine months. I used to sleep three hours in a day. When I started, I had no job but I didn’t lose hope. I knew what I want to do exactly. And I did. It began with one member but later 14 members not only from different places across country including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai but also from abroad like Nepal, Sri Lanka, America etc joined it. Our members in age group from 10 to 50 years are associated with us by email, Skype and social media like Facebook, whatsApp. ”
“Our websites is people’s friendly. We provide human interest related contents for people of different walks of life. It is also online work so people whether they are homemakers or students who loves to write can join us through social media like facebook, whatsapp.,” said Sen adding that “besides, we have started ‘Podcast’ facility recently for our readers especially illiterate and differently-abled. In the facility, they can listen to all the contents of the websites. We do not have many equipment due to financial issues, but we never compromised with quality. I have spent Rs 1 lakh till now.”
The websites has also covered an international event ‘Hansika,’ held in Delhi last year. He said, “We have association with various spiritual foundations like Isha Foundation. We also provide information about Advaita Vedanta philosophy by Adi Shankarachaya. We are also planning to provide information about scholarship facility in India. We have also a plan to add well-known writers to our websites.”
