BHOPAL : MP Nagar police have arrested a 38-year-old man who tried to procure loan from India Infoline (IIFL) by mortgaging gold bangles which were found to be of some other metal when checked by staff on Tuesday.
Additional superintendent of police Zone-2 Hitesh Choudhary told mediapersons on Wednesday that accused is Amit Kumar Ahuja, 38, son of Ashok Ahuja, resident of Housing Board Colony at Vishwakarma Nagar in Nishatpura area. The police booked him under Sections 420 and 511 of the IPC. He was arrested later.
Complainant Aishwarya Sharma (34), a resident of Rishi Vilas colony at Airport Road who is presently posted as manager in MP Nagar branch of India Infoline (IIFL) approached police on Tuesday.
Sharma told police that the accused Amit Kumar Ahuja had mortgaged six gold bangles in the bank to get loan of Rs 1.5 lakh loan. When the gold bangles were found fake, manager lodged complaint with MP Nagar police.
The past criminal record of the accused would be checked to ascertain his involvement in similar incidents of forgery. IIFL is a financial services company with head office in Mumbai.
