BHOPAL: The collector of Chhindwara has issued a strange order. The collector has asked all government and private schools to celebrate Valentine Day on February 14 as ‘Matra-Pitra Pujya Diwas’.
“With an aim to inculcate the feeling of having respect towards parents, specially among children and youths, February 14 should be observed as ‘Matra-Pitra Pujya Diwas’ in the district,” Chhindwara collector J K Jain said in an order issued on February 6. In the letter the collector has also hoped that events be organised in all homes, families, villages and cities to make the day successful, so that youngsters can learn to respect their parents even more.
Disgraced Godman Asharam, prior to his arrest, had also made the same appeal. Valentine’s Day has been drawing protests from pro-Hindu organisations but it is first time when any collector has issued an order against Valentine’s Day.
