BHOPAL: Class X and XII results of MP Board of Secondary Education will be announced on Friday. Approximately 18.60 lakh students had appeared in the exams.

Wait for the result has stressed out not only the examinees but also their parents. This is evident from around 500 calls being received by board’s Helpline Establishment on daily basis.

Around 150 to 200 calls are being received in morning shift.  Most of the callers want to make sure that they will clear the exam or not. Many of them also inquire as to whether the state government’s ‘Ruk Jana Nahi’ scheme, launched last year, would continue this year too or not.

On the other hand, parents inquire about steps to be taken if their child becomes depressed after the results.

Talking to Free Press, Ravi Kumar, a businessman, says, “Bachchon se jyada tension humein hai (We are more stressed than children). We are counselling our son at home by saying that everything will be good by the grace of God. So, be positive.” He further said, “High number of suicide cases last year have left us scared. We are trying to ensure that jovial and happy atmosphere prevails in our house.”

“Thoda sa tension to hai but at the same time I am confident that we won’t fail. Not only I but most of my friends are tense about the result. There is family pressure too. I am motivating them by saying that life is big and we can’t spoil it for the sake of one exam or paper,” says Jitesh Shrawan, a student of class 12. “I will opt for BCom and prepare for competitive exams,” he said confidently.

Shaista Irshad, a homemaker whose daughter Sehar appeared in class 12 exam, says, “The atmosphere in my home is normal. We are not expecting high marks.  Our only wish is that she clears the exam. Yes, she is a bit stressed but we are making her understand that result of hard work is always fruitful.”

“Yes, I’m little bit tensed. Will I secure passing marks or not, is the cause of all tension. However, I am hopeful of coming good. My parents are not expecting high score. Yes, they want to clear the exam.,” said Vaishali Nigam, a commerce student adding, “Students should not commit suicide if he or she get less marks. I think, life is beautiful and everyone should enjoy it.”

Rohit Singh, class 10, said “I am excited but at the same time tensed too thinking what will happen. I want to be a doctor. So if I don’t get good marks or percentage then I won’t be able get admission in good college.”

Sindhu Dhoulpure, counsellor in the helpline, said, “We are getting more than 500 calls daily of students and parents regarding result. The helpline is running in shifts now and we are getting around 200 calls in a shift mostly morning .”

“We are asking parents not leave their child alone and spend time with them. We also ask them to observe changes in their child’s body language.  We also caution them against exerting pressure for higher marks. Instead they should teach their wards the real meaning of life and try to keep them away from negativity. We also advise students to think positive and engage themselves in other activities. We encourage them to take up their hobbies as career.”

“We will continue the scheme “Ruk Jana Nahi” this year too. Most students and parents are unaware of the scheme. To promote the scheme in every district of the state, we will organise workshop as well as campaign. We are planning to appoint a male and a female teacher in every government school for counselling. The counselling facility will be available round-the-clock for students.”
