Bhopal: Worker held for stealing gold jewelry worth Rs 25 lakh

Bhopal: Kotwali police have nabbed a 35-year-old man for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh from jewellery shop at Chintaman Chouraha on Wednesday afternoon. Police said that the accused Mukul Gupta was nabbed after it was found on Tuesday.

Police claimed that the accused works with Shriram Vijayvargiya Jewelers and stole gold jewelry from the shop. A complaint was lodged with the police by the victim Raj Vijayvargiya stating that the accused Mukul used to work for the past three years and on Tuesday he left the shop for lunch while Mukul was at the shop to look after the shop and when he returned Mukul was not present at the shop and his mobile phone was found switched off when contacted by the victim.

After the victim failed to contact the accused he checked the belongings and found that the bag carrying 13 boxes of gold boxes carrying 240 gold bangles worth Rs 25 lakh was missing. Victim lodged complaint with the police and based on the complaint police started search and nabbed the accused on Wednesday and recovered the gold jewelry from his possession. City superintendent of police (CSP) Kotwali BP Verma said that the accused was arrested from his house and the valuables were recovered.
