Bhopal: Woman panel hears 10 complaints at public hearing, summoned persons fail to appear

Bhopal: The State Women’s Commission began its two- day public hearing on Tuesday and heard cases of forgery, workplace harassment, family dispute and divorce. As many as 32 complaints were listed for the hearing, however, the commission only took up 10 cases on day one.

The three persons who were summoned ion connection with the forgery cases failed to appear before the commission. MP Nurses’ Registration Council, Bhopal ex-registrar approached the commission alleging that three persons including Suraj Kumar Dwivedi, the personal assistant of Congress leader Mukesh Nayak; Dr S P Singh, chairman of Dr S P Singh Institute of Nursing, Bhopal and R M Dangi, Indore took out her class 12 mark-sheet of from MP Board of Secondary Education without her consent.

She has also accused an RTI activist Mukesh Punjabi of threatening and harassing her. In her complaint she alleged that Punjabi took out her confidential letter and degree. Senior member of the association Anju Singh Baghel who was presiding over the two-day public hearing said that it is very sensitive issue as no one has right to take out mark sheet of others without their consent. It is illegal as the mark sheet can be misused, she added.

We had called Dwivedi but he was not in the city, so he couldn’t come. She informed. Mukesh Punjabi who appeared before the commission claimed that he took the information under RTI. He told the members to present all documents and proofs before the commission on Wednesday.

The commission also heard a case of harassment field by a geography teacher of the Regional Institute of Education. The teacher told member that earlier she had approached the commission earlier and field a complaint against institute clerk Sanjay Fransis of harassing her. This peeved the institute principal and he allegedly gave her below average marks in her annual confidential report.

Baghel said that commission wants justice for the woman and want to make sure that her professional career is not spoilt due to the confidential report. A very few people turned up for the public hearing being conducted by the commission on day one. Instead of five hours, the hearing was held only for an hour. The hearing began at 1 pm, an hour late than the scheduled time and ended three hours at 2 pm. The Commission was to hold the hearing from 12 noon to 5 pm.

According to sources, the people are avoiding coming to the public hearing as the commission is not taking prompt action on the complaints. Lack of manpower in the commission is also hampering its working.
