Bhopal: A woman college guest professor got her head tonsured at Neelam Park on Sunday as mark of protest. The protesters called government’s move to conduct MP Public Service Commission to appoint assistant professors in the state as “use and throw” policy. MPPSC was not conducted after 1991.
There are 12,000 guest faculties teaching in various colleges in the state. Dr Parvati Vyadhi of Government College in Udaipura tonsured her head as mark of protest. She said, “My protest is against indifferent attitude of government. We are teaching for last 20 years in various colleges but government has not regularised us.”
Dr Leena Dubey of Indore, said, “Tonsuring head is a wake-up call for the government, which has turned blind eye towards our demands. Our demands are to cancel MPPSC and regularise all of us. It is insulting for the teaching profession that despite working for last 20 years, we are not getting due share and importance.”
According to college guest professors, they will stage demonstration at the residence of higher education minister Jaibhan Pawaiya on February 20. From there, they will walk up to New Delhi in a rally.
