Bhopal: A 21-year-old woman travelling in her car was allegedly stopped by car-borne four men and molested after being dragging out of her car late in the night on Saturday at Bairagarh. The accused were trying to drag her into their car but was saved by her known people coming behind in their car. A case was registered against the accused but no arrests have been made so far.
According to the police, at around 2 am on Saturday, the victim, a resident of Bairagarh, was returning in her car from a party in a shopping mall at MP Nagar. On her way home, a black i-20 car overtook her car from behind and stopped in front of her car, forcing her to stop in the middle of the road. After stopping her car, one of the four accused, identified by the complainant as Aditya Sharma, stepped out of his car and dragged the woman out of her car on the road.
The victim protested against Sharma and a scuffle broke out between the two in which he also molested her. Trying to escape from the hold of Sharma, she screamed for help. Behind the car of the victim, one of her known persons Bharat Sewani was coming with his family. Seeing the victim in trouble, Sewani went to help her during which Sharma and the other accused thrashed him and damaged the windshield of his car. Soon after this, Sharma and his friends fled the scene after abusing and threatening the victim to kill her, the police said.
“The victim reached the police station after the incident and lodged a plaint against Sharma and the other unidentified accused. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against all the accused under relevant sections of IPC and investigations are on. Initial investigations suggest Sharma was known to the victim but no arrests have been made till now as the incident is being verified by the police,” said station house officer, Bairagarh, Sudhir Arjariya.
