Bhopal: The two women police personnel, who were allegedly harassed by senior officials, staged a dharna on Tuesday evening outside the CM House seeking action against the cops. The aggrieved women cops also demanded an audience with the chief minister.  Accusing their seniors of sexually harassment, the two woman cops had registered cases against them. However, seeing no action initiated against the accused, the woman cops demanding suspension and arrest of the two officers sat on a dharna in front of CM House. One of the protestors, a constable posted at PHQ was allegedly harassed by additional SP Rajendra Verma. The cop had made complaints to the chief minister, home minister and the DGP.

It was only when on November 30 the lady constable sat on dharna near the CM house seeking an audience with Shivraj Singh Chauhan that the police senior officials swung into action. On the very same day the ASP Rajendra Verma was arrested. ASP was produced in court, however, he was released on a bail. Earlier on November 22, Jahangirabad police had registered a case of sexual harassment against Verma under Section 354A of IPC. In an internal enquiry, additional ADG-(crime against women) Aruna Mohan Rao found the allegations against the officer to be true.  The constable alleged that the department had not taken any action against the tainted official and he is still working in the office. “Me and my family are being threatened, the police personnel are keeping an eye on my every movement, I cannot move freely”, she alleged.

“I want the officer to be suspended for his act and the department should take strict action against him,” said the aggrieved cop adding that she would not leave the area unless she meets the CM. Similarly, another woman cop, who is protesting has accused DSP Pawan Mishra, posted in Indore district, of sexually harassing her. The cop seeking DSP’s suspension is also demanding his arrest.

On the instructions of the senior officers, Sahapura police had registered a case against the DSP under Section 493 of IPC for allegedly cohabitating with a woman deceitfully for last several years inducing a belief of lawful marriage with her.  Both the demonstrators are bent upon meeting the chief minister, however they are not being allowed to enter the CM house. Till the filing of the report, the two cops were still waiting response from the CM house.
