Kukshi: On the 74th day of ongoing Narmada Seva Yatra, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan addressed a ‘Jan Sanvad’ programme here at Koteshwar under Kukshi tehsil in Dhar district on Thursday.
Well-known Gandhian and social activist Dr Subbarao, Maulana Luqman Tarapuri of Jama Masjid with MP Savitri Thakur, MLAs Ranjana Baghel, Nina Verma, Vel Singh Bhuria, zilla panchayat president Malti Patel, state vice chairman BD Sharma, Jan Abhiyan Parishad vice president Pradeep Pandey, Dr Raj Barfa, several public representatives and eminent citizens were present in the ‘Jan Sanvad’.
In his addressed, which went on for 40 minutes, Chauhan pitched for addiction free Madhya Pradesh and also administered oath of quitting addiction to the villagers. The CM also urged the villagers to quit open defecation by constructing toilets at their homes.
Calling for mass participation in conserving rivers Chauhan said “Not a single drop of sewage water should be released in the river to prevent pollution. Sewage water released from big cities will be treated and utilised in agriculture fields and gardens,” he added. He promised that efforts to make Narmada river clean and maintain its perennial flow will be continued.
Chauhan further said that “With ‘Narmada Seva Yatra’ the work to build new Madhya Pradesh has begun. Narmada Seva Committees are being formed at village and panchayat level and people are invited to join this major campaign to free river from pollution.”
Social activist Dr Subbarao extending solidarity to the movement said “I feel proud to see the devotion and faith of a large number of people in Maa Narmada. The campaign becomes mass movement when people spontaneously link themselves to it. This campaign has become a public movement now and it must be continued.” Maulana Luqman Tarapuri of Jama Masjid, Anand-Gujarat also spoke on the occasion.
Later, Chauhan accompanied by noted bhajan singer Anuradha Podwal, performed evening aarti of Mother Narmada at the village, following which he administered oath of serving Narmada to the present public.
