BHOPAL: UAD Minister Jaivardhan Singh drove down the city roads to get the firsthand knowledge of road condition, upkeep of heritage structures and rehabilitation of slum dwellers in the walled city. With minister for gas relief and minority welfare Arif Aqueel Singh sitting next to him, Singh steered his car through the walled-city, reviewing, noting and issuing necessary instructions to the concerned officials.
Earlier, the two ministers joined others in paying tributes to bravehearts martyred in Pulwama terror attack. Later during a conversation with Singh, Aqueel shared his concern over the lack of amenities and poor road conditions in the old city area. The UAD minister, without wasting any time asked his ministerial colleague to accompany him to tour the area.
Singh, while visiting the heritage buildings in old city instructed the officials to repair magnificent Teen-Mohara Darwaza. Seven months ago, the authorities had closed down, one of the three entries as the structure was in dilapidated state. Four departments—PWD, archeological department, department of tourism and Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC)—look after heritage structures of the city including Teen-Mohara gate, a part of imposing Taj Mahal. Seven months have passed but no repair work of the heritage gate has started yet. Singh directed the official to ensure the repair of the gate at the earliest.
Aqueel also made the young minister to drive on the potholed roads in the old city. The two ministers also visited slum areas which have been evacuated. Aqueel later said, “Since many things are in bad shape in old Bhopal so I took minister and showed him around. I showed the minister, poor roads, displaced colonies and informed him about the lack of amenities.” “Roads are not in good condition, in the name of rehabilitation, slum-dweller have been displaced in Shahjahanbad, but so far nothing has been done for their welfare,” rued the minister. The UAD minister has seen and given required instructions to officials to initiate prompt action.
