Bhopal: The change of guard in MP has brought to fore the question whether Special Police Establishment (Lokayukta) will get the permission of prosecution in 245 pending cases. BJP spokesperson Rajnish Agarwal, said while talking to Free Press, Congress government has the responsibility to sanction the prosecution in pending cases and if it fails to provide sanctions, it means that they are supporting the corruption.
He alleged that Congress raised the issue in the assembly as well as outside, now it should sanction prosecution as early as possible. Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja reiterated party’s stand, “We have promised in our Vachan Patra, that we will follow zero tolerance policy in corruption cases. Our government will study the cases and will sanction the prosecution at the earliest.”
Requesting anonymity an officials posted in SPE said the department officials don’t support the SPE to put the case into the court. He said, department heads are not concerned over SPE request and they are putting the appeal in cold box, “in every interval the SPE writes a letter to the department for the approval, but there is no reply from their side”.
Staff crunch SPE is facing staff crisis- Lokayukta has seven divisional offices and to run the office, one superintendent of police and deputy superintendents of police and inspectors are appointed. Whereas the offices are having SPs, but 15 posts of DSPs are vacant out of 32 and 14 posts of inspectors are vacant out of 50 sanctioned posts. Number of cases In last five years since 2014 to 18, the SPE had registered 2139 cases, out of this number 1567 officials were trap red handed. 117 cases were registered into the income against the property. 455 cases related to misuse of the post are registered.
