BHOPAL: Financially sound families will be removed from the eligibility list of those getting ration from PDS. Criteria for removal of names of such financially sound families from the beneficiary list are being fixed.
Food Commissioner Vivek Porwal informed that out of the 24 categories of families included in the Priority Family Category of the state government and Antyodaya Anna Yojana families included as eligible families under the Food Protection Act the financially sound families will be removed.
Under the fixed criteria, such families whose any member is income-tax payer/professional tax payer, any member is in service in a government/semi-government organization on regular/contract/honorarium (except anganwadi assistant/worker, ASHA worker, Mid-day meal cook and family of Class-IV SC/ST employee), a family that owns a four-wheeler (except such families who own just one four-wheeler as a means of livelihood and have no other means of livelihood), families with two or more than two hectare irrigated and 3 or more than 3 hectare unirrigated land, families with concrete houses of 1500 sqft in rural areas and 500 sq ft in urban areas, Kisan Credit Card holders with over Rs one lakh credit limit and families who sell more than 50 quintal paddy, maize and wheat on support price will be removed from the eligibility list.
The selection of the financially sound families from these categories will be done by competent authority and action of removing these families from the eligible family list through the local body will be taken.
