Bhopal: Weatherman warns of rain & hail in next 24 hrs

Bhopal: Several parts of the state are likely to witness hail accompanied by thundershower in next 24 hours, warned meteorological department on Thursday. Scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers with isolated hailstorm are likely over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts. Scattered light rains were also seen over parts of  East and South Madhya Pradesh. As per the meteorological department, various divisions like Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Chambal, Bhopal are likely to experience rain and hail in the next 24 hours.

A confluence zone has developed over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh due to which scattered light to moderate rains and thundershowers are expected over Northeast Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. However, between February 24 and 26, a trough is expected to form over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Also, an induced Cyclonic Circulation will form over eastern parts of Rajasthan. A trough will also extend from this system up to Gangetic West Bengal across North Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Thus, scattered light to moderate rains will once again occur over many areas of Madhya Pradesh from February 24. Rain intensity will increase on February 25 and continue until February 26. By February 27, weather system will move towards the east, and the weather will once again become dry.

Several others parts of the state also saw sharp rise in night temperature, this incudes Shahjapur where the temperature during nigh hours went up by 5 degree Celsius. Umaria, Khargone, Ujjain, Shivpuri each recorded rise of 4 degree Celsius in night temperature while Rajgarh recorded 4.4 degree Celsius. Satna, Khajuraho recorded a rise temperature of 4 degree Celsius in day temperature. Night temperature on Indore also went up by 4.2 degree Celsius. It recorded maximum temperature of 35 degree Celsius which was 4.7 degree Celsius above normal, while it recorded a minimum temperature of 19 degree Celsius which was 6 degree Celsius above normal.

City sees sharp rise in night temp 

Despite a spell hail and rain on late Wednesday night, the capital city witnessed a sharp rise in night temperature. The mercury significantly posted a 5.4 degree Celsius rise in night temperature, while day temperature recorded 2.5 degree Celsius rise. Bhopal recorded a minimum temperature of 19.8 degree Celsius, 6.3 notches above season’s normal, while maximum temperature settled at 35.8 degree Celsius, which was 6.6 degree Celsius above normal.
