Khetia: With groundwater table going down beyond pumping level and all drinking water sources drying up, has caused serious concern over the availability of drinking water in Khetia village these days. It is not just people who are facing the brunt even cattle and other animals are deprived of water. Drinking water crisis in the village is so acute that women have to walk across fields for about four km to fetch one pot of water from neighbouring village, that too after waiting for hours. Khetia municipal council officer Santosh Chouhan informed that no wells are available in the village and council is wholly depended on 22 tube wells in the town. Currently, municipal council is supplying water in two shifts, one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening since last one week. Now most of the tube wells have dried up too and the council is supplying water through tankers.
