Bhopal: Amrish Sharma, People Medical College director, has surrendered in court in connection with VYAPAM scam. He has been sent to jail. The issue is related to admission of 292 seats. Students were given admission against 202 seats without appearing medical examinations.

Main accused are Chirayu Medical College chairman Dr Ajay Goenka, Dr DK Satpathi, People Group’s director Caption Amrish Sharma, the then joint director NM Shrivastava, and Chairman SN Vijayvergiya, and Dr Vijay Kumar. Main allegations against private medical colleges is that they grabbed medical seats of government quota and gave admission to 292 such students in MBBS course who did not even appeared in the test. Private medical college management allegedly sold seats for Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore per seat.
