Bhopal: On the day when the nation was remembering Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary, visually-challenged agitators jostled with cops, smashing their jeep windows.
On Tuesday, the agitators, protesting for over a month at Neelam Park, gave tough resistance to police when they were prevented from disrupting the traffic and blocking the road. Aggressive protestors smashed windows of the police vehicles. Cops had tough time removing the agitators from the road. The administration has now vacated the park and now the visually-challenged agitators will not be allowed to stage any protest there.
Without seeking any administrative permission, the agitators have been staging a sit-in at the park since December 18 for their demand which includes direct recruitment to 8000 backlog posts in various departments. Visually impaired students had also held ‘Jal Satyagraha’ on December 26 in a pond near the Park.
The collector Sudam Khade said that the protestors had turned very aggressive as they smashed police jeep windows when they were prevented them from blocking the road. It was then that the administration removed them from Neelam Park. Now they will not be allowed to picket there. Government is already considering their demands so there is no need to demonstrate any more, the collector said.
Speaking on the same lines, CSP Jahangirabad Bhartendu Sharma clarified that administration had not given any permission to the agitators to picket there. Despite it, the protestors continued their agitation for over 40 days. Today, they tried to disrupt the traffic by blocking the road. When police prevented them from doing so, they clashed with cops. Then, the police removed them from the dharna site, ” Sharma said.
