Bhopal: The multi-level parking at MP Nagar wore a deserted look on first day of its inauguration as only thirty two-wheelers and fifty four wheelers were parked inside. Haphazard parking continued to mar the area, which aspires to get rid of the congestion for the ease of visitors.

Illegally parked vehicles cause congestion in the area of Zone one, which has around ten big hotels and restaurants. These outlets are held as the main cause behind the huge following of visitors and subsequent haphazard parking in the area. Though, other establishments too attract their share of regular visitors and contribute to the resulting congestion.

An estimated five hundred four wheelers and fifteen hundred two wheelers visit the area and multi-level parking is seen as a remedy to improve the experience and comfort of the visitors apart from tackling the nuisance caused by illegal parking.

However, the authorities are disappointed as the new parking in New Market and at Bairagarh have not been able to acquire visitors preference. The visitors have their own share of woes, which they want to be addressed, before they start utilising the facility. One of the visitor Free press spoke to said the facility has only one entry.

  • To exit the parking we have to traverse a long distance it causes wastage of both fuel and time. I find it insensible to take a round of the whole area and go to the other side to park my two-wheeler, he said.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) traffic Pradeep Singh Chouhan says the illegally parked vehicles will be towed now.
  • The multi-level parking was inaugurated at MP Nagar today by the Chief Minister Kamalnath. He also inaugurated other projects to the tune of Rs 110 crore. The parking costing Rs 45 crore was built in four years. Parking at Bairagarh and New Market were inagurated in 2018. These two parking along with the others at Ibrahimpura and near Kotwali are not proving useful in getting the areas rid of illegal parking so far.

The authorities hope to break the jinx with the new parking at MP Nagar.
