BHOPAL: The villagers of Geedkheri of Raisen district are running from the pillar to the post to get their right on their parental land, since independence. Now they have decided to commit mass suicide if their names are not incorporated in the revenue records. Congress leader Bhupendra Gupta along with the villagers informed in the press conference on Monday, that they are cultivating the land situated in the village since 1932. But due to dispute between revenue and forest department, the land of 722 acres has became disputed.
In many occasions the revenue department declared the village as a ‘revenue village’, in the year 1962, the village was identified as revenue village and in the year 1969, the district collector Raisen ordered that the village is revenue village. But the revenue officials did not enter the village in revenue village catagory. In the year 2000, the DFO Raisen has also written the letter to the district collector that the village is revenue village, after the joint demarcation of forest and revenue department.
