Minister of urban affairs Jaivardhan Singh visited a village adjoining Adampur Chhavani on Wednesday, three days after fire broke out at the landfill site.  The villagers of Kolua Khurd apprised the minister of the issues they were facing owing to presence of the dumpyard in their neighbourhood. Raising objection to the plying of Bhopal Municipal Corporation garbage vehicles on road passing through their village, the villagers urged the minister to make alternative arrangement for the vehicles carrying waste and garbage.

The villagers also handed over a memorandum to the mister in this connection. The minister has assured the villagers that they would not be troubled anymore, and an alternative approach road to the landfill site would be constructed, claimed a resident.  One of the villagers, Rajat said vehicles loaded with tons of waste passes through their village road creating health issues for the people residing along the roadside.

When the landfill site was sifted from Bhanpur, the villagers were assured that their road would not be used for BMC garbage vehicles, however, everyday a number of sanitation vehicles are using the village road to go to the dumping yard. The fire in the landfill site at Adampur broke out on Sunday and it took almost three days for the authorities to completely douse it. However, no official confirmation was made by the BMC about the visit.
