Bhopal: A six-year-old Dalit girl student was allegedly forced by an upper cast man to lift her excreta with hands outside her school in Chhattarpur’s Lavkushnagar tehsil. The incident happened on Monday when the girl went to answer nature’s call in an open area near the school at Gudhora.
Police have registered a case against Upper cast man Pappu Singh. Superintendent of police, Veent Khanna informed that the incident occurred on Monday at village Gudhora under Lavkush Nagar police station.
Dalit girl, who studies in class I, after taking permission from her class teacher went to answer nature’s call in an open area near the government primary school at Gudhora. Pappu Singh, who was passing from there, saw the girl defecating in open. He got furious and scolding the girl asked her to clean up the area, but she refused. Singh went on threatening the girl and forced her to lift her excreta with her hand, police said. On reaching home, the narrated the incident to her family following which they along with other community members reached the police station and filed a complaint.
A case was registered against Singh on charges of unlawful compulsory labour, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and relevant section of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Khan said. Singh is at large after the incident and a manhunt was launched to nab him. Member of Child Right’s Observatory, Neeraj Dubey said that that the students are forced to go in open to attend nature’s call as the toilets are kept locked by the school administration, besides most of the toilets have no water.
