BHOPAL: Higher education department (HED) is getting strict on problems reported by students in colleges and universities.
It has directed the colleges to report about the redressal status of students’ problems every week to higher education department. In a review meeting, the officials of higher education department had found that large numbers of complaints remain pending.
Earlier governor Anandiben Patel had dressed down the university officials on unaddressed complaints. She too had suggested that complaint redressal cells need to be made more effective and that the complaints of the students should be resolved at the lowest level itself.
HED in its review meeting found that most of the complaints were of nature that could have been resolved at the lowest level. However, remaining unaddressed for long students then complain at the higher level.
Commissioner higher education has instructed to all colleges that problems of the students should be resolved in prescribed time limit. Moreover, colleges will provide weekly updates to the higher officials about number of complaints reported from a college and its redressal status. If complaints remain pending for more than week, then it may reflect on principals’ confidential report.
