Bhopal: The order for seventh pay commission for faculty, sports officers and librarians of colleges and universities was released without any change after withholding five days on Friday. First order for implementation of seventh pay commission was released on January 21 and was also posted on higher education department’s website. However, after an hour the order was pulled back. Same day higher education minister Jitu Patwari had convened a hurriedly called press conference but avoided questions related to implementation of seventh pay commission.
Sources confirmed that higher education minister did not seek the permission from CM Kamal Nath on announcing the implementation of seventh pay commission. Nath who had left for Davos, advised Patwari to make the announcement when he comes back. The higher education minister had to change the topic of press conference at the last moment and briefed media about World Bank project in higher education department.
Faculty members of Universities had objected on certain points in the order concerned. The new revised order that was published at department’s website has no change in it and has been posted again in its original form, confirmed an official privy to the information.
Assn seeks legal opinion
The university teachers’ association’s coordinator RK Mishra said that the association is taking legal opinion on the order and might take court’s refuge to remove anomalies from the order.
Clause 1.4
An official of higher education department requesting anonymity said that clause 1.4 of the order clearly mentions that universities are independent to decide on implementation of seventh pay commission recommendations- considering their financial strength. This clause has always been the part of implementation orders of new pay commissions, he added.
