BHOPAL: Political developments taking place within Congress following party national president Rahul Gandhi’s insistence on resignation, has led to instability in the state.

State in charge Deepak Babaria along with other leaders has quit. The resignations have caused severe confusion in the ministers and the MLAs. Bharatiya Janata Party has been continuously threatening to bring down 6-month old Congress government.

Congress leaders are also quite unsure after the outcome of Lok Sabha polls. The MLAs are also in confusion about the fate of the government in the coming time.

Nath, after coming to power, had started working as per Congress Vachan Patra. He had fulfilled several ‘Vachans’ prior to code of conduct for Lok Sabha polls coming into effect. The government is unable to focus on its work after Lok Sabha poll results.

When Chief Minister Kamal Nath started to gain momentum he had to face spell of resignations within Congress. The Congress leaders, following resignations, are doubtful whether Nath would continue as Chief Minister or not.

There is confusion in officers following ‘instability’ in the government and they are not taking the directions of ministers seriously. Ministers and officers are entering into disputes.

Earlier, it was expected within the Congress that new state president would be according to Nath’s wish but Rahul Gandhi by not appointing favourite candidate of Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and by appointing Mohan Markam there, has given a hint that he could do the same in case of Madhya Pradesh too.

Meanwhile, BJP is keenly watching the state of confusion within the Congress. BJP leaders are waiting for the right time when Congress government would automatically fall because of its internal conflicts.

On the other hand, political analysts maintain that Congress government in the state would continue as long as Kamal Nath is Chief Minister. Any attempt from Congress high command to weaken Nath would lead to the party entering into troubled waters in the state.
